What is acupuncture?

AcupunctureAcupuncture is the time tested therapy that has been practised in the Far East for thousands of years.

The philosophy behind the treatment is that channels of energy circulate around the body. When this flow of energy is impaired, imbalance can occur in the form of pain and/or illness.

Acupuncture-cuppingInsertion of fine, sterile needles at specific points along the channels of energy stimulate the body’s own healing response, helping to restore its natural balance.

The focus is on the individual, not their illness, and all the symptoms are seen in relation to each other. Each patient is unique; two people with the same western diagnosis may well receive different acupuncture treatments.

The tradition is as much about the maintenance of health as the management of disease.

"Maintaining order rather than correcting disorder is the ultimate principle of wisdom. To cure disease after it has appeared is like digging a well when one feels thirsty or forging weapons after the war has already begun."
– Nei Jing

"Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live."
– Jim Rohn
